Ecological Disaster in Indonesia

Over the last few months, Indonesia has been experiencing what NASA has termed the worst forest fire ever observed, with a combination of an extreme El Niño and rampant slash-and-burn deforestation leading to raging fires across huge tracts of land. Not only is human and animal life threatened within Indonesia on an alarming scale, but the damage has even spread to neighbouring countries, with planes being grounded and other economic ramifications stretching across South East Asia.
